Menorcan cooking is based on its excellent fish and seafood offering. Dishes like the caldereta de langosta (lobster stew) or berenjenas rellenas a la menorquina (Menorca-style stuffed eggplant) are well worth trying. It's most international gastronomic contribution was the creation of mayonnaise, which has many stories associated with its origin. We highly recommend that you try the local wines, like the malvasía, as well as its delicious liquors, accompanied by carquinyols, which are biscuits made with almonds or else with its excellent cheese from Mahón.
